The stomach is part of the body’s digestive system, located in the upper abdomen.

Risk factors

Although the cause of stomach cancer is not fully understood, there is evidence that having chronic stomach conditions such as chronic gastritis, gastric polyps, Helicobacter pylori infection, a family history of liver cancer and lifestyle factors such as obesity, a diet low in fresh fruits and vegetables, high levels of alcohol consumption and smoking can be contributing risk factors.

Don’t ignore the warning signs

It is important to see your GP if you are experiencing any of these symptoms, especially if it is unusual for you or persistent.

How to find the PDF of results you have just downloaded

On iPhone or iPad:
  1. Open the Files app on your Home Screen (if you don’t see the blue files app, swipe down from the centre of your Home Screen, then search for the Files app).
  2. If you’re using the Safari internet browser, tap the Page Settings icon next to the search bar, then select Downloads. You will see it in your recent downloads.
On Android devices:
  1. Open the My Files app, or File Manager app (swipe up from the bottom of your screen and search if you cannot see it on the Home Screen, the app usually looks like a folder), then tap Downloads. You will see it in your recent downloads.
On Desktop Computer:
  1. Your internet browser will have a default download location in its settings.
  2. Example: when using Google Chrome on a Microsoft computer, click on the 3 dots in the top right corner of your webpage. Next, click on Downloads.
  3. Refer to your internet browser’s help guide to locate Downloads if needed.
